The principal approach to the Capitol, the Clivus Capitolinus begins at the Arch of Tiberius as a continuation of the Via Sacra, passes around the Temple of Saturn, which is to the left, and ascends in front of the Porticus Deorum Consentium to the summit of the Capitoline hill.
