Return to Baths of Diocletian

Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri

The National Roman Museum occupies much of the eastern portion of the baths. The basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and Martyrs occupies the frigidarium, its eight granite columns still standing in the transept of the church, the soaring vaults providing, as does the Pantheon, one of the few glimpses of what the original splendor of the Roman building must have been like.
